In the Finnish neighborhood planning of the 1950s and 1970s, Ostari established its place as the center of new residential areas in the spirit of modernism. Later, the shops have fallen into disrepair, and now they are being demolished to make way for new construction. The shopper studies project looks at the reflection of the socio-economic change on the cityscape through the old shopping centers in Helsinki. In the book, the researchers and artists who participated in the project discuss the history, present and future of the shops. The book also serves as documentation of the art and research program organized at Konalanvuori Ostari in the summer of 2022.
